Robin Lyn Treger is an American Jazz singer currently residing in Connecticut. She is the daughter of world renowned violin virtuoso Charles Treger and the soprano Deborah Alden. "As a teenager, living with my folks in Manhattan, I don't remember a time there weren't famous musicians and singers making wonderful music in our apartment. It was joyous and infectious, creating a continuous culture of creativity. I could not imagine spending my life doing anything else but making music." Robin's own musical journey began with piano lessons as a child. Then in high school, a classmate asked her to sing a Carole King song as part of his year-end project, and Robin found her voice and love of live performance. "As soon as I found my voice, Mom stepped in, giving me the ongoing support, vocal lessons and coaching that I needed." Summers were spent at the family home in upstate New York, on the grounds of the famed Seagle Music Colony where Robin gained valuable stage experience, being allowed to participate in the productions mounted there. After graduating high school, Robin moved to San Antonio Texas to attend Trinity University. In 1974, she began performing professionally in residence six nights a week at a club that would eventually become part of the San Antonio River Walk and developed a loyal following singing folk and pop standards. In 1978, she moved to Connecticut, and for the next 20 years performed with bands around the region singing disco, pop, rock, and everything in between. In the late 90's, Robin joined the popular Standing Room Only Cabaret, performing in Connecticut and Washington D.C. It was during this time that she fell in love with the songs and singers of The Great American Songbook. "Peggy Lee, Abbey Lincoln, and Cleo Laine were just a few of my "go to" singers for inspiration. With a sultry contralto that has been described as "smooth and effortless with Cool / West Coast Jazz stylings yet will surprise you with a turn of phrase", Robin has enjoyed accolades of fans and colleagues who say "she makes The American Songbook sound fresh and new with her own personal style, immersing herself in the lyrics of every tune."
Robin continues to perform at Festivals and jazz venues to very appreciative audiences, joined by internationally recognized musicians. Her latest CD "Seasons" is currently available on Spotify, iTunes, and Apple Music. "Seasons" was recorded at Manor Recording Studio, produced by Norman Johnson, Alex Nakhimovsky musical director.
